Eid Celebrations
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. In this month the holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammed , the last messenger of God. Fasting is done in this month, which is one of the five pillars of Islam. While fasting from dawn untill sunset, Muslims refrain from consuming food and drink. Muslims also are instructed to refrain from sinful behavior that may negate the reward of fasting, such as false speech, insulting, backbiting, cursing, lying, fighting etc. The month lasts 29-30 days based on the visual sightings of the crescent moon. After this, the morning prayer of Eid is offered in community centers and mosques all over the world. This is the day when all of us get together and celebrate Eid.
On the Eve of Eid, L.D.C.S was beautifully decorated and all the students were in colour dress.
The entire environment of the school was engulfed with laughter and music as the students and teachers celebrated the Eve of Eid in school.
The entire ritual of fasting was depicted in the skit performed by the students of standard VI. Speech was given which focused and explained the importance of the month of Ramadan. Video clippings were also projected so that the children get the clear picture of fasting and celebrating Eid. Songs and dance were performed very beautifully.
The teachers of standard VI trained the students for the celebration of Eid.
The chief guest for the occasion was Mrs. Laxmi Inchal, the Principal of LDCS. She also threw light on the month of Ramadan.
