Article 29 – Role Of Spices In History
Spices were an important & crucial source of trade in the early medieval ages. They were very popular in the middle ages. Spices were expensive & the country which had them was considered to be rich. They were a status symbol to the kingdoms & the export of species & trade from it were really beneficial.
The western countries lacked spices & as a result, they had to pay heavily to get the spices. As in medieval times, the price of pepper served as a barometer for European business in general. Historians believe that nutmeg, which originates from the Banda Islands in south-east Asia, is very unique. Spices were discovered by explorers and traders. Now-a-days the value of spices has reached the top.
