Trip to Badami, Aihole & Pattadakallu
A visit to Badami, Aihole and Pattadkallu was a fruitful, interesting and informative study tour which was organized on 15th of November 2014 for the students of std 7th and 8th. They started their journey at 6:30 am.
The objectives to visit these places were
- Students getting live experience of seeing the monuments.
- Understanding the hard work done to construct these monuments.
- How these places were prosperous during the Medieval period.
- Students will be proud that India is very rich in art and architecture.
An appointed guide explained the historical values of the places. BADAMI formely known as Vatapi , is a town and headquarters of a taluk, Baglkot district of Karnataka. It was the regal capital of the Badami Chalukyas from 540 to 757 AD. The temples have carved pictures which tell us about the life style of that time. At 2:00 pm students had lunch (South Indian Thali) in Heritage Resort, Badami. Then they reached Pattadakallu at 3:30 pm. Students went in groups to visit ancient Durga Temple. Pattadakallu is a great centre of chalukya art & architecture. Virupaksha temple is the largest of all temples in Pattadakallu built in 8th century. At 5:00 pm they reached Aihole. Aihole is historically famous as the cradle of Hindu temple. At 6:45 pm students had evening break-fast (Upma) and left for Belgaum at 7:00 pm. It was a tremendous experience for all the students and teachers. This first hand experience will remain in our memories forever.
Best Wishes
